A partnership and shared values

" METRO France Supply Chain teams are driving an ambitious transformation plan. Numerous opportunities are available for young graduates and experienced profiles to contribute to the project in a collaborative spirit. Through skills development programs, employees are supported in their vertical and horizontal career paths. The testimonials from the Kedge Alumni community within METRO France reinforce our desire to continue our partnership with METRO in order to strengthen the visibility of current and future Supply Chain missions." - Isabelle Blombou, Head of Partnerships, KEDGE Business School.

" METRO France has been close to KEDGE Business School for several years. It's one of the partner schools with which we work best, because we share the same values: a close, trust-based relationship to best meet customer expectations. Our managers are committed to helping students with their teaching activities, and our recruiters advise them on their career plans throughout the year. In this way, we have strengthened our ties with the KEDGERS community, welcoming many interns and work-study students who have now become employees. " - Sylvie Hadjazi, METRO France Employer Brand Project Manager.

Interview with Guillaume Priest, METRO France Supply Chain Director, who is supporting the "SUPPLY CHAIN 2025" project launched in 2016.

What is Supply Chain at METRO France?

Today, we have a team of 145 people and 2,000 service providers, organized into 4 divisions.

We are a company in the midst of a major transformation , with a whole range of businesses under one roof, coordinated and optimized by different links: sales forecasting, procurement, supplier collaboration, logistics and transport supported by 3 outsourced service providers, order preparation and delivery (a strong growth area for the future), which are themselves interconnected.

METRO France's sales are 90% cash and 10% delivery. Our ambition for tomorrow is accelerated growth, with the emergence of new businesses and strengthened activities. Our businesses require us to develop the skills of our employees, so as to be at the cutting edge of the highly technical supply chain professions.

What are your next challenges?

Our vision is to be the high-performance, green and service-oriented supply chain for our food retailers, in line with our corporate and human values.

Our transformation revolves around 4 strategic axes:

  • To be a SUPPLY CHAIN RECOGNIZED for its robustness, reliability, agility and expertise;
  • To be a SOLUTION CREATOR for our customers and suppliers in an omnichannel environment;
  • FEDERATE ECOSYSTEM ACTORS upstream and downstream (last mile);
  • Be THE "GREEN REFERENT", carbon neutral, circular economy.

Our main challenges in becoming the green, service-oriented supply chain of 2025 are ..:

  • Cost ( in-house teams, service providers, investments, etc.)
  • Inventory (cash management, floor space, real estate);
  • Service levels (customer promise, detention rates, delivery, OTIF, new services);
  • Environmental responsibility ( co2, waste, energy, buildings).

With 2 key enablers: people and skills, tools and digital.

We are therefore investing heavily in people , by developing the skills of our existing teams and creating new professions, notably in demand planning, supply planning (upstream and downstream) and flow management.
