Discover the journey of Stevenson and his donkey Modestine in the Cévennes! A family comedy with delightful dialogue, humor and finesse.

 

Adieu, Modestine ! is a creation by Les Charlatans, presented by Compagnie Harpagon, based on R.L. Stevenson's novel "Voyage avec un âne dans les Cévennes"@Martin Chang. This comedy introduces audiences to the gallery of picturesque characters encountered by Stevenson throughout his journey.

We follow the adventures of this novice donkey driver, keen walker and inveterate dreamer. The show plunges us into 19th-century France, with its delightful dialogues, while Stevenson's story, full of humor and finesse, depicts the magnificence of the Cévennes, the beauty of a wild and unspoiled nature, and invites us to contemplate.

Jean-Baptiste Debost

graduated from KEDGE (2012) and worked in purchasing until 2015. In 2016, he turned to acting, founding Les Charlatans company in 2018. He discovered Stevenson's work during his first creation: L'étrange cas du Dr Jekyll et de Mr Hyde, and decided to perform on the GR70. Numerous shows and theatrical tours followed, including Adieu, Modestine !

Christophe Paris

A graduate of KEDGE (2011) and MAI (2014), as well as holding a degree in Private Law, Christophe worked in indirect purchasing for major groups before setting up his own business in 2020. Since then, he has worked as a purchasing consultant, investor, actor and theater presenter. In 2021, with the help of Jean-Baptiste Debost, he founded the Compagnie Harpagon to present plays.
